Reps Urge FG to Set Up Military Outposts in Wurno, Raba to Combat Kidnapping
House of Representatives has appealed to the Federal Government to establish a military outpost in two locations within the Wurno and Raba Federal Constituency in Sokoto State to curb the menace of kidnapping activities in the area.
This request was part of the prayer in a motion addressing the urgent need to curb the incessant attacks and kidnappings by bandits, which have caused serious tension and fear among the innocent citizens of the area.
The motion, sponsored by Almustapha Aliyu, the member representing the area, emphasizes that establishing a military base in these locations would help reduce, if not eliminate, the activities of bandits in those regions of the state.
Almustapha further noted the urgent need to reorient the local population, highlighting that the aftermath of such attacks is causing significant harm to the entire community.
The lawmaker further stated that while there have been notable improvements due to the joint efforts of the state government and security agencies, it is essential for the communities to recognize the severe damage caused by the criminal activities of informants.
He emphasized that these actions harm the lives of innocent Nigerians and the socio-economic well-being of the people."Without this understanding, he added, the citizens could have lived in complete peace and harmony.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Alternative Education, he assured that the policy will continue to ensure the number of out-of-school children is drastically reduced, in order to better manage criminal activities in the country.
He argued that the lack of education among these out-of-school children is highly dangerous, as such children may, in the near future, become the most dangerous tools used by miscreants to carry out their notorious activities, including banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, and other crimes.
