Katsina Government Warns Against Removing Victims of Banditry from Hospitals

The Katsina State Government has expressed concern over the practice of families removing victims of banditry attacks from hospitals to receive traditional treatment at home. This warning was issued by Hon. Saidu Ibrahim Danja, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

According to Danja, the state government, under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has vowed to tackle security challenges and provide free medical treatment to victims of banditry in Katsina state hospitals and neighboring states.

Danja noted that some relatives of the victims have been taking them home for traditional treatment, despite the government's efforts to provide medical care. This practice has resulted in the government losing funds invested in the patients' healthcare.

The main goal of the Katsina state government, according to Danja, is to provide effective security and safety of lives and property of residents. To achieve this, Danja urged victims of banditry attacks to remain patient and stay in hospitals where they are receiving treatment

The office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Victims of Banditry and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) is facing challenges in serving the affected people. During a recent visit, Danja observed that some victims were being taken home by their relatives without the knowledge of the medical facilities.

Hikaya Newspaper reports that it was discovered that the injuries of some victims who went home for traditional treatment had worsened, leading them to return to the hospital and seek the government's assistance for further treatment.

Danja appealed to the families of victims to allow the government to fulfill its promise of providing healthcare to those affected by banditry. By doing so, the government aims to alleviate the suffering of the victims and promote peace and stability in the state.

The Katsina state government's warning serves as a call to action for families of victims to prioritize medical treatment over traditional practices. By working together, the government and the people can overcome the challenges posed by banditry and promote a safer, and reduce mobility and morality of victims in the Katsina state.

    Remember.
There were instances when clients are forced to go back home because the Hospital could not attend to them.
    The reason was that:-
There is no money in the Wallet.
So to avoid subsequent unwanted discharge, there is a need for enhancing client and Facility relationship.
Let there be a standing memoranda between Government and the facilities.
It seems as the facilities are the ones violating the existing Policy on management of the victims
